Manjiao Chi is professor and founding director, Center of International Economic Law and Policy (CIELP), Law School, University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing, and a faculty member of the European Institute, Saarland University. His major research area cover international trade and investment law and policy, dispute settlement, global cooperation, and sustainable development. He is author of three monographs and over fifty articles in leading law journals. His recent works include a book entitled “Integrating Sustainable Development in International Investment Law” (Routledge, 2017). Previously, he worked in Department of Treaty and Law, Ministry of Commerce of China on secondment. He also serve as arbitrator in a number of international and foreign-related cases, and as expert before Chinese and foreign courts.
Among his many affiliations, Manjiao is a Standing Council member, Chinese Society of International Law, member of the International Law Association Committee of Rule of Law and International Investment Law, and member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Center for Global Cooperation Research, Germany. He also sits in the editorial board of several academic journals. He is invited to present in major academic events across the world. He was an Edwards Fellow, Columbia Law School, visiting fellow of Max Planck Institute of International Law and UNIDROIT, and Li Ka Shing Visiting Professor of McGill Law School. He holds a Ph.D in Law degree.
